The ultimate emotional baby bathing experience

Your newborn baby suddenly finds himself out in a new world filled with light, noise and cold air. He is unable to grasp what is happening and he cries, sometimes for hours on end. By placing your baby in TummyTub, he naturally adopts the familiar foetal position and is immersed in water that surrounds his entire body and covers his shoulders. He now has the feeling of being placed back in the womb where for 40 weeks he floated in amniotic fluid and felt secure in its confined space where he could feel the walls with his hands and feet.

This feeling of security causes him to stop crying, to sleep peacefully, to relax his abdominal muscles so colic is prevented or relieved, constipation eased and trapped wind released. Feeling confident, your baby explores the smooth circumference with his feet and hands preparing his muscles for crawling. Feeling reassured, you and your baby engage in all important relaxed and positive eye contact during a stress-free bath time.

Testimonials From Healthcare Providers

Is TummyTub safe?

Yes! TummyTub is perfectly safe. It has the TUV German, UK British Standards, and USA CPSIA safety certifications.

It is designed in such a way that the water creates the stability and it will not tip over, while the anti-skid rubber ring prevents sliding.

TummyTub is safe for premature babies, newborns, and twins. Click here to view the TummyTub Womb With A View page.

What is so special about TummyTub?

The unique design of TummyTub closely mimics the shape and confinement of the mother’s womb, and is tall enough to keep the baby warm at all times.

Among other features, TummyTub is the only upright tub with an anti-skid rubber ring to prevent sliding on wet surfaces. TummyTub has unsurpassed safety ratings, and can be used with special designed ergonomic stands to make bathing easier for you and more fun for your baby.

The original TummyTub is often imitated, but never duplicated! While some upright baby baths may look similar, the details of design and use of certain materials are essential for the product to work safely and for the comfort of the baby.

Is it too small?

No! Babies feel more secure with the confinement that TummyTub affords. Being able to touch and sense the circumference of the tub reassures them.

TummyTub went through 17 different prototypes and was tested thoroughly before the precise optimal shape and size was found for the baby.

TummyTub can accommodate babies up to 9 months and sometimes one year. If you have twins, they love bathing together in TummyTub.

Is it safe for a newborn?

Yes! tummyTub is safe for both newborn and premature babies and is routinely used in maternity wards in Ireland and across the globe.

You only need to support your baby’s head under the chin with one hand while having the advantage of washing and comforting the baby with your free hand. In the floating position you have one hand under baby’s chin, the other at the back of the head, or you can place both hands under your baby’s armpits.

After approximately 12 to 16 weeks, your baby will have enough strength to support his own neck and you are free to use both hands for washing and playing.

What colours does it come in?

In Ireland TummyTub bath is available in clear and TummyTub stand is available in green.

TummyTub is good for the environment...how?

- TummyTub uses less water (5litres) than the average bathtub (9.5litres)

- Water stays warmer for up to 20 minutes longer in the TummyTub

- The plastic used to manufacture they TummyTub are non-hazardous to baby’s health

- The TummyTub is 100% recyclable

Can I use a bucket?

No! Here's why:

- Normal buckets don’t have an anti-skid bottom

- The bottom is not curved and therefore does not give the baby any support

- Pigments in plastic buckets may contain toxins

- The handle of the bucket can easily hurt the fingers of the baby

- Normal buckets are too low and narrow

- Buckets do not offer the high visibility offered by the transparent TummyTub.

What are the health benefits of TummyTub?

TummyTub is routinely used where babies are suffering from:

- Colic

- Fussiness before bedtime

- Constipation

- Trapped wind

- Babies who do not like bath time

Because TummyTub envelopes babies in warm water that covers their shoulders, they remain warm and content for longer and can engage in positive eye-contact with mum and dad.

TummyTub's design encourages babies to explore their surroundings with their hands and feet, developing motor skills and preparing the muscles for crawling.

What the professionals say

“The reaction from babies was great. They really relaxed and cried a lot less than babies in the conventional bath. Personally I love it. The idea overall is super and I would recommend it.”

What parents say

"My little girl hated the bath: desperate I decided to try TummyTub because she kept crying in the bath. I'm really sorry I didn't buy the tub sooner, she LOVES it! First time for a split second she put her face into "I'm gonna cry" mode but decided against that and now the 'I'm gonna cry' face starts when I take her out of her tub!"
