From birth it is recommended that the Tummy Tub is filled with water to over the baby’s shoulder, to keep them warm. Extra water can be added so the baby can adopt a floating position, with the support of the parent. When the baby reaches between 12 and 16 weeks, (at this stage babies can usually hold their heads up without support), the water level in the Tummy Tub can be reduced. As the tub has a smaller surface water area than most baby baths, the water stays warmer for longer helping the baby to enjoy the experience.
Tummy Tub - A New Concept in Baby Bathing
Suitable for babies from birth up to 3 years and bucket-like in shape, the Tummy Tub eases the stress of bathing for both baby and parent. It is especially soothing for colicky and premature babies. The Tummy Tub is designed to replicate the comfort of the mother’s womb and once in the Tummy Tub, babies naturally adopt the foetal position and instantly feel reassured and relaxed. Created in Holland, the Tummy Tub has been endorsed by maternity hospitals, physicians, midwives and childcarers throughout Europe.
Relaxed Bathing with Tummy Tub
The Tummy Tub is also reassuring for parents, especially new parents. Eye contact can be maintained with the child, and as the Tummy Tub is transparent, the baby can be viewed from all sides. With the option of using the two step stool or sitting on a chair, the parent can adopt a relaxed position using the support of the wide rim for their arm. The anti-skid base and low centre of gravity ensures that the Tummy Tub is safe, sturdy and stable and the ergonomic hand grips and lightweight quality, make it easy to carry and store - perfect for new mothers. The Tummy Tub is made from environmentally friendly materials and is ecologically friendly. Compact in size the Tummy Tub takes up less space and uses less water than most baby baths.
