- what the professionals have to say about TummyTub.
“The reaction from babies was great. They really relaxed and cried a lot less than babies in the conventional bath. Personally I love it and would feel more confident with more use. The idea overall is super and I would recommend it (TummyTub).”
M.M – Care Assistant, Regional Maternity Hospital Limerick
“Easy to use, not as messy as standard bath. Mother thought TummyTub was very good.”

“As a mother of two and as a natural fertility specialist, I am always interested to come across practical and useful baby products, whether for myself or to recommend to my clients. At first I wasn’t sure about the idea of using the tub but that all changed when I saw how my son took to it.
There are a number of benefits to it as far as I can see. Unlike the standard baby bath where you have to cradle them as they are bathed, the TummyTub allows the baby to ‘sit-up’ and look around without any danger of them slipping out of your grasp. It was much easier to support him with just one hand under his chin (when he was a newborn) while I washed him. The other major plus is that your baby won’t get cold. It seems obvious, but because the TummyTub allowed my son to be submerged up to his neck, he was cosy and content to splash around while he was bathed. In a standard tub, either the front or back of the baby is exposed as you wash them, which means they are likely to run out of patience with you much more quickly. The design of the tub means that the water retains heat very well, so again no need for messing around with bath thermometers, once it was filled, that was that. I would happily recommend this tub to any new mum, once you’ve tried it, you’ll wonder how you every used the traditional tub design.”

“Being the superintendent of the gynaecological department of the Pforzheim hospital I learned about the TummyTub in a very early stage. The personnel of our maternity units, as well as the personnel of the nursery wards, and the teachers of the pre and post natal classes asked for this bathing device. At one of my night rounds I visited a baby who was crying inconsolably, while the mother was at her wits end. To handle this situation I recommended a bath in the TummyTub, and in my and the midwife’s presence the baby was bathed. Afte a short time the baby calmed down and wa apparently feeling very happy.”
Prof. Dr med. Dirk Heinrich – Gynaecological Department, Pforzheim Hospital, Germany.
“Stick’m in and be happy – just perfect! I was very sceptical about this bathing bucket at the beginning. But after two baths I have changed my opinion radically. Babies love to bathe in the TummyTub, are at ease, even laugh and are totally relaxed. My compliments.”
Nicole Merz – Midwife
“It’s very clear that babies feel GREAT in the tub. This is something we see in the maternity unit as well as in the parent’s home. I’m convinced this is because they are confined. A feeling they know so well from being in the womb. That’s why they don’t have to be held so tight and are able to move freely. They are completely surrounded by water, supported by the bottom and the walls, similar to being in the womb. With a traditional baby bath, you need a huge amount of water to keep the baby happy, but the TummyTub uses only a small amount of water. Especially mothers who have had a caesarean benefit , as they shouldn’t lift the weight of a filled baby bath, but can carry and use the TummyTub easily anywhere. Apart from the beneficial effect on the back of the mother, it is also clear that babies relax better when fully immersed in warm water to ease their colic cramps. Being bathed in the tub, before going to bed, is very relaxing.”
Bea Gunther – Midwife – Soest Clinic, Germany.
“Traditional bathing procedures can threaten a young infant’s security. Then baby screams and the bather becomes tense and uncomfortable too. The TummyTub actually relaxes baby because of the way it supports and contains baby in a flexed position – something familiar from the womb. Baby is calm and so is the bather. Bath time can be a soothing ritual that enhances bonding instead of a battle.”
